for the elevators to work you have to put on on the first floor and one directly on top of it on the next floor.. ( there should be 4green squares to tell you were to place it.)

You buy the toy crafting work bench from the Hobbies>Miscellaneous catalogue. they can start by crafting a toy brick, and as they get talent badges for toy making, they can make more better toys.
