I love this story premise…children often wonder if we still love them when they are being “naughty” or when they are sick, or when they make bad choices…this books lets them realize that although we may not like the choices that they make, we love them regardless!! My children ages 3 and 5 loved the story and it teaches children about unconditional positive regard. I have two of her other books as well- Hooray for You and The Gifts of Being Grand (my children gave that one to their grandma, when we went to visit). I use the Hooray for You when working with kids who have self-esteem problems…I Love You So came with a coupon booklet to reinforce the good choices that children make! The whole package is just WOW!!!!!!!!!

WHEN MY FIRST GRANDAUGHTER WAS BORN 14 YEARS AGO, THE FIRST THING ON MY AGENDA WAS TO SHOW HER UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. WHEN SHE BEGAN WALKING AND TALKING WE WOULD LAY ON THE FLOOR OR THE GRASS AND I WOULD POINT OUT TO HER THE BEAUTY OF THE STARS AND TELL HER THAT I LOVED HER ‘AS FAR AS THE EARTH IS FROM THOSE BEAUTIFUL STARS’ OR I LOVED HER AS FAR AS THE ‘EAST IS FROM THE WEST’ AND THAT NOTHING WOULD EVER CHANGE MY LOVE FOR HER.

I WAS BROWSING THROUGH A BOOK STORE A YEAR AGO AND RAN ACROSS

‘I LOVE YOU SO…’, I COULD NOT PURCHASE IT AT THAT TIME BECAUSE I WAS SOBBING IN SHEER WONDERMENT THAT THERE WERE MY EXACT FEELINGS FOR HER AGAIN, IN WORDS. SO OF COURSE, I HAD TO GO BACK AND PURCHASE THIS BOOK FOR HER! IT IS A BEAUTFIUL BOOK, DELIGHTFULLY WRITTEN WITH BEAUTIFUL PICTURES ABOUT UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. SINCE THEN, I HAVE PURCHASED TWO OF MARIANNE RICHMONDS OTHER BOOKS AS MY SECOND DAUGHTER JUST FOUND OUT SHE IS EXPECTING. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

This is a very special book with a great message; even when you do something I don’t like, I’ll still love you so… My 3 year old Granddaughter thinks this is the best book ever! A delightful addition to a child’s library.

My sister — a first grade teacher — gave me this book for my first Mother’s Day when my daughter was 3 months old. It has such beautiful, colorful illustrations — my daughter has been cooing and smiling at this book since the first time I read it to her. And, as the others have written, it has such a great message, told in such a sweet, rhythmic way — I well up almost every time I read it to her. I just ordered several more of Marianne Richmond’s books because I’m so happy with this one. Buy this book for your child and/or give it to others for their new baby — it’ll be treasured more than any baby clothes they receive. I have over 70 books for my 5-month-old daughter (books are very important to us), and this is, by far, my favorite.

I purchased this book for my ailing mother for Christmas, (I am 28). There is a part in the book that states, “Do you love me even if I am sick and not well?” That statement said exactly how I felt about my mom. I took care of her, but loved her so unconditionally that nothing would ever change that. My mother passed away 3 weeks ago on 2-1-09, and I read this book at the vigil service. “I Love You So”, said exactly how I feel, and it made my mother’s passing a little easier being able to express the emotions that I had inside. I know that this is a “children’s” book, but it brought a room full of grown adults to tears.
