Do You Think “Developmental Toys” Are Necessary?
Question by Fifi: do you think "developmental toys" are necessary?
For babies?
When i was pregnant i bought lots ( i felt a bit guilty not to ... the packaging is such a con for mums to be!! ) but my little one seems much more interested in the humidifier ...
Whats your opinion?

i think its a ploy, lol, we bought all kinds of stuff also and mine perfers a box and spoon. i don't think its a big deal, most of them are flashy colors and have things for the child to do. in my opinion, just expose your child to many different things, they never seem to play with the expensive toys anyways:)

lol, I got a chuckle out of this. My son is 6 months old and is more interested in keys and shiny necklaces than his toys that make noise or sounds. He also gets a kick out the tv. If you are walking past the tv with him in your arms, he’ll move whichever way possible to see that screen.
My nephew is 10 months old and seriously I was trying to get him to look and play with his toys, but instead he was digging in the trashcan, trying to get into dog food, and playing with measuring cups. The toys are cute and nice and “baby-looking” and I would imagine that some babies like them, but the babies in my family want everything BUT their toys. lol.
Uhm, not always, my son will play with a lot of his toys, but he’s just as happy looking at me talking or making stupid faces/his hands/the TV remote etc etc. I think they’re good to have, but not the be all and end all.
Your baby will learn far more from you talking to him/her, a set of measuring cups, and that humidifier (with supervision, and unplugged, please!), than from the latest plastic fad.
You, engaging your child in the world around her/him, are the ultimate developmental toy!
Every child I have known prefers the box to the toy.
I don’t think so. Most children I know play with everything but toys. Having a few is fine, but when I get pregnant I’m not going to buy many. I’ll buy them more toys when they’re older and actually want toys. :)
It’s always the same but one day you will be surprised that your baby will eventually start getting interested in his/her toys.
You’re free to buy the things that you want for your baby. It’s your own choice but with the child growing, he/she knows what things really he/she wants to have as a growing child. They may like these sort of materials right now but eventually they will grow as time goes by and they will have to search for more materials that will enjoy having and playing as they grow up.
See source below for more materials that you may want to offer for your child. Great stuff!
They aren’t super necessary., I bought tons too though! I think I get a kick out of how cute they are more than he does…. but the last month or so (he’s just hit the six month mark) he’s seemed really interested in them. He loves laying out on his baby einstein play mat and looking at all the sounds and noises and he loves being in his exersaucer and punching, swatting and hitting at all the toys…. however, I think he’d be just as amused with me or my fiances silly faces! He now tries to grab at everything, whether it’s one of our cell phones, a remote control, the sunglasses on my face or my dangley earrings. So to really answer your question, no toys aren’t very necessary, babies are amused with pretty much everything they see.
as my baby has a problem with his legs called neurapraxia it was important for him to have a gym that encouraged movement of his legs. i have brought rattles that strap onto either his wrists or legs and he has some other toys like an octopus with different feeling legs. we sit and play and talk with him when he is awake he gets to watch t.v but actually would rather play he is 16weeks old. if you can get le mazetoys they are brilliant.
Babies love simple everyday things. They might play with a toy for a couple minutes but then it’s something you have laying around that catches their attention more. My kids loved to play with my purse more than they liked playing with their toys.
nope -most parents stress to much and spend ungodly amount of money on these gimmicks.
Great toy and amazing suction!,
This is a fun and bright toy that has great suction! I have had this toy for about 2 months (my son is 6 months now) and he has enjoyed this toy since we got it. He finds new aspects to the toy every week. At first, he liked that if he hit it, it would spin. Then the next week he noticed the rings on the bottom, and the next week he noticed the small spinning boxes on the inside. It seems to excite him when he gets in his high chair! Best part is that is has great suction!

|Great toy!,
I love this toy! Entertains baby in highchair better than any toy I have purchased so far. Easy to spin and continuously spins for awhile. The rattle sounds also entertains my baby. Great toy!

|love it,
for some reason i thought the rings on the outside were gel filled. its actually just a soft thin i dont know rubber of somekind that they can chew on which is better i think because ive seen alot of people buy actual gel filled toys and they were always leaking. the lion i think is what that yellow one is supposed to be rattles when you shake it but the zebra has no noise to it. they are a little larger than i thought they would be but again love the colors they are cute and fun. i have them thrown in my diaper bag.

|New version doesn’t match picture,
Item sent is cute, but it only has the high contrast black and white on one item. Disappointed that none of the bugs match the photo. One is yellow, blue and orange and the bug rattles softly. One is green, black and red and the green portion that attaches to the velcro crinkles. The last is orange, green and purple and attaches to the velcro with a black and white striped barrel (like the lady bug in the picture). This one makes a louder tinkle-ly sound. The wings are not crinkly like they were in the older version.

|Colors are Not the same as pictured,
I bought these because I wanted the contrast of the black white and red. The ones I were sent have some contrast colors but the bugs are different and the majority of the colors are green orange purple…they seem to be a newer version. Just be aware you are not getting what is pictured.
The product itself is still adorable, they all have different sounds…one a tinkle, one crinkle and a rattle. They fit perfectly on a peg perego car seat. They keep a new baby attention for a little bit which is great for short car rides.

|Simple but great,
This was the first and favorite toy my son used during his first four months. He could spend several minutes studying it and later batting it with his hands. I think it is a must have for newborns. It is really the only entertaining toy for them other than a mobile during the first few months.

|This is completely? stupid and a waste of time. How does showing inappropriate use of a baby product create healthy conversation?
Fire your marketing Manager !
Wait, I thought they had a little boy?
And why would you focus an ad on the baby being in the saucer while the parents are doing it, only to throw a disclaimer on there about never leaving the baby unattended in the saucer? ? WHAT?
Yeah, good luck with that, folks, Love? the disclaimer. You should have one on your breastpump ad to note how idiotic that one is too.
Why in the heck would they advertise the seat as a way to get away from your child and? then say it should never be used that way? I find all of evenflos new ads incredibly insulting to parents.
The disclaimer cracks me? up!
Very cute? videp
