No…arms on top of her arms..unless she is a girlfriend or relative..then, under the arms is OK…never with a stranger or acquaintance..
PS-practice with a friend or relative..the more you do it..the easier and more comfortable with it you’ll be…
Wear gloves and tell her that she smells.
Don’t put this much thought into it. Don’t push for a hug. If she comes up and hugs you, just go with how she is doing it. There’s no mandates on hugs.
I can’t stand hugs from people i am not extremely close too. There are around 11 people i don’t mind getting hugs from, the rest creep me out. I’m not a hugger. All the rest are akward for me too, so be it. And yes, i’m a woman.
You’re dissecting a rainbow and taking all the fun out of it by over analyzing. Just issue the hug without much thought as to the physical dynamics and it will be ok–or shake hands instead.

I am a little standoffish too, but am getting use to the ones who like hugging so just go with it and a light pat on the back means your done.
Do you really like hugging, or do you do it only because you think it’s expected? If you don’t like it, don’t force yourself, or let yourself be forced, to do it. Just put out your hand for a handshake. (And if they still try to circle around for a hug, just step around in the same direction.)

I’m not a hugger either, I just don’t do other people’s embrace except from my girlfriend or my immediate family and that’s very rarely.
